Red bricks and old town

Boston has been my home for the last 8 years, and it is not only where I reside, but also one my of most beloved cities to be in. I, too, like many Bostonians see the beauty and history around every street corner in this old city. Each bridge across the Charles river has it's own character and story! Heck, I actually take longer daily walks to work just to enjoy my favorite walking route. Boston's Commonwealth Avenue and Beacon Hill are some internationally known spots for historical architecture.
Creating more classic Boston themed paintings has always been a top desire of mine, and one main reason is to pay tribute to the love I have for the city, and the daily walks it's given me. So awhile back I decided to create a 3 piece mini series dedicated to classic Boston cityscape. The burning ambition to execute the 3 canvases came to a slow grind the last two months, though clearly for well justified reasons. (gotten married to my beautiful bride!) Eventually the project has gotten back to full swing a week ago.
You know, it's always a bit strange when you try to start a painting that you left off for awhile. I was actually somewhat nervous then just told myself to start painting it already! I won't lie, that first brush of color was horrible and had to quickly cover it over!
Well, a session and half back into painting the series I found some groove and flow. Really enjoying working on them right now and also feeling the color and vision of where I like them to be when done. Boston is one of the most historically cultured towns in the country, I am determined to bring out a mood and warmth that it deserves. I spent a majority of these painting sessions making sure the classic red bricks were nicely expressed and the federal architecture design is embedded with my brush strokes.
The photos here show the work in progress, with the stacking canvas photo being the most current state.
